This single story cabin was built as a granary and has no windows in it giving you complete control over the location and size of the window openings. The roof is sagging and will be rebuilt using reclaimed 2×8 from another building and the boards from the cabin so from inside it will look to be all original. If you wish to add insulation you can do that by overlaying that material on the roof and insulating the gables.
One wall will be rebuilt using some old floor logs from the cabin and my own inventory. Please note that if you need a room addition or a larger cabin this wall could be eliminated by combining it with one of the other cabins(call for special reduced pricing on this option). Materials for a half loft have been added to add create more living space for a sleeping loft and barn siding has been added to complete the gable ends and overhangs.
The standard material package includes these materials for construction on a slab without doors, windows, insulation, roofing , chinking and assembly. All materials are boron treated, marked and banded together for quick assembly.
The proposed plan with the bath and kitchen addition is just one of many design options available to expand the floor space and improve the functionality of this cabin. The finished photos are from a similar sized cabin that I designed and built several years ago about 15 miles from our office. Knee walls added to the upper level make the loft more usable and the Jefferson stairs uses half the space of a normal stairs.
