Due to the unique challenges involved, the owner and I worked together on the plan for two years before it started. The design challenges included stretching this historic cabin by 5 ft., creating a steel framed wall of glass and using foam panels for the roof and a huge addition. The fun parts were things like making a secret passageway, collecting branches for the handrail and balusters, installing trim and flooring made from reclaimed barn wood and casting concrete to make faux stone mantels.
