Sold - Sand Lake Cabin For Sale
The Sand Lake cabin was originally built near Floodwood, Mn in 1888. It was dismantled and moved to Sand Lake near Silica, MN in 1949 by Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Maki. The restored cabin has 708 sf on the main floor and 335 sf in the sleeping loft for a total of 1044 sf of living space. The logs are a mixture of cedar and pine and were fit together so well that sphagnum moss was originally used to fill the small gaps in the logs so little if any chinking was needed. The 15 ‘ lean-to addition is actually made from a second cabin that was built near Black Duck, MN and not much history is available on that cabin at this time. Nevertheless the logs match so well that once they are combined these two cabins will look as if they were both built by the same Finnish carpenter over a century ago.
To increase the floor space the lean addition and a shed roof dormer have been added while a Jefferson stairs has been used to save floor space. The roof framing system is designed to allow you to choose between rustic exposed rafters or concealed framing with reclaimed barn wood for the ceiling boards.
The shell package is priced at $29,000 and includes one week of free on site assistance to erect the logs. Contact us for delivery quote and other options available.
